Fox Park Observatory Star Party: AUG 17-20, 2023

Updated: Aug 8, 2023

The planetarium is undergoing an upgrade to a new DigiStar Projector and we will not be able to have a meeting for August. In September we will get a look at the the new Planetarium Projector and a behind the scenes look at the new Planetarium System! So be sure to mark your Calendars for our September 6th meeting!

Also mark your Calendars for the Annual Fox Park Observatory Star Party!!

We will be grilling out on Saturday evening Aug. 19 so stop out say hi and check out the observatory and visit for awhile, even if you can't stay all weekend! If you are not going to stay the night, please park down the hill so your car lights won't affect the star gazing once it gets dark. Let me know if you plan to come to the cook out on Aug. 19- Thanks- Chuck T.

The 13th Annual Fox Park Star Party is being held August 17th - August 20th at Fox Memorial Park near Potterville, Michigan, SW of Lansing. Every registration fee goes directly into the Observatory's fund that is used for upgrading, maintaining and operating this fantastic public observatory.

One Night, Individual/family: $20 Two Nights, Individual/family: $30 Three Nights, Individual/family: $40 Registration fees include all camping and entrance fees to the park for the entire weekend. Power for any and all astronomical equipment is available at no charge. There is a nice beach, walking trails, decent restrooms (sorry, only an outside beach shower), playgrounds and plenty of room for tents and RV's. If you don't like to camp, there are hotels available within 5-15 miles in Lansing and Charlotte.

Registration will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th and feel free to show up anytime on Friday or Saturday as well. Our Star Party is pretty informal so all you need to do is check in with Jason when you arrive or after you set up. The gate restricting access to the observatory road will be closed at sundown. If you are not staying the night, you will need to park in the lot at the bottom of the hill.
