May Meeting and upcoming News!

Spring is finally here? Maybe- but it will be May soon and things should start to warm up!

For our upcoming May 3, 2023 meeting- Dr. Shannon Schmoll from our own Abrams Planetarium will be giving us an "Astronomy Update" lecture. This is a review of some major events that have happened in about the past year and a deeper dive into some discoveries that were in the news. A big thank to Dr. Schmoll for giving us a live in person talk!

See you on Wednesday May 3 @ 7 pm at Abrams Planetarium.

Some other Upcoming Events:

Astronomy on Tap is back on May 8!! This is a great event and I am glad to see that MSU Astronomy Department is brought it back. This month the topic is going to be "The outcomes of NASA's DART mission" This is an event you don't want to miss!

Join us on May 8th for a special event at UrbanBeat Lansing covering the outcomes of NASA's latest DART mission!! Event is between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM ET.

NASA's DART mission is the first ever focused on planetary defense, and the first time that humanity attempted to measure the controlled deflection of an asteroid in space. After we've covered the impact of the spacecraft into the asteroid during last year's September AoT, at this month event, DART mission team member Dr. Harrison Agrusa will tell us about what the scientists have learned from the mission and what comes next in the quest of protecting planet Earth from future cosmic hazards.

Also We have Fox Park Observatory Public Nights on Friday and Saturday May 12 and 13, 2023- Please join us under the stars and take a view through the telescopes. Jason and Brian have some exciting new setups to show off.
