Public open house at the MSU Observatory returns on April 8 an 9!

On April 8 from 7-10pm we will be celebrating Statewide Astronomy Night at MSU Observatory with activities and Telescope viewing.

For out April meetup, I encourage club members to bring a telescope to setup outside the dome for public viewing outreach. This event can get quite busy, especially since it has been 2 years since MSU observatory has been open to the public, and add to that the MSU Science fest is occurring. We can really help alleviate the long wait times for the big scope if there are smaller telescopes setup outside that the public can look through while they are waiting for their timeslot to go up to the main telescope.

Last time we held this event the line for the dome stretched almost back to Forest Rd. We will be setting up telescopes both nights, April 8 an 9, but April 8 is Statewide Astronomy Night event, and other activites are planned for kids, Rain or Shine.

I am planning on setting up my 5 in Maksutov and I believe Brian is bringing out his refractor.

If you would like to volunteer and help out with some of the kids activities plan on showing up at 6pm for instructions.

See you on April 8 and 9!!
